About Josiah Johnson's You Had One Job
“You Had One Job,” which details the thought process of trying to find something or someone to blame when you’re trying to make sense of a difficult experience.
"Musically, when I wrote the first parts, I was feeling very alien and numb and, simultaneously, very tender,” Johnson said. “The side by side of the manipulated digital voice and the wispy falsetto together felt like they held both the weight I was carrying and the tendril of hope spiraling gently skyward. The structure of the song, in three parts, feels to me like the arc of moving big emotions. It's a very cathartic song for me, and a great one to play live."
