About Ben Harper's Uneven Days
“The song “Uneven Days” attempts to explore the depths of how dependent we can become on other people for our own sense of wholeness and stability,” singer and songwriter Ben Harper says of his latest track. “The only thing more hazardous than oversimplifying relationships is over complicating them. Love and surrender are synonyms. Even if I remove love from the equation, mental health and day-to-day perspective maintenance is a razors edge. Maybe acknowledging the unavoidable uneven day, or uneven days, helps avoid uneven months or even years.”
Directed by Scott Keenan and choreographed by Kristin Sudeikis, the video for "Uneven Days" was filmed in New York City’s prominent Gibney dance studio. Three professional dancers artfully swing and sway around Harper in the video as he solemnly performs the song on piano. "It was 4 hours of truth, transparency, clarity and vulnerability,” Sudekis said of filming the video. “Cosmic last minute line ups fell into place to make this possible. The dancers and I knew we held this story in our bodies and continue to hold tremendous gratitude for what unfolded on set that day."
Harper recently produced and wrote the songs for We Get By, the 12th studio album by living legend Mavis Staples, which was released on May 24.
