Yann Tiersen Announces North American Tour Dates
Venerated musician Yann Tiersen and his band is set to embark on a much anticipated tour of North American beginning this January in Los Angeles. Tiersen is a supremely talented and unquestionably unique artist whose recordings merge experimental aspects of classical music with flourishes of folk, rock and the bristling energy of post punk. The band will be bringing Dust Lane to life with synths, electric guitars, violins and drums in an energetic and powerful show.
Tiersen's 6 studio albums, a slew of entrancing and ever evolving live shows, in addition to his beloved soundtrack to the film Amelie have continued to garner an expanding and dedicated fan base around the world. Tiersen's recent ANTI-Records North American debut album Dust Lane has proved a hit with both critics and music fans alike, charting an audacious new musical path by incorporating dramatic elements of progressive rock, post punk, atmospheric post rock and beyond.
Critical Praise For Yann Tiersen's Dust Lane:
"His gently intoxicating sixth studio album casts throbbing anger and raging lust into a dreamlike haze of shadowy voices, acoustic guitars, and analog synths. Tiersen best displays his artful ingenuity on the title track, which subtly champions a loss of control, and "Fuck Me," a sweet-sounding reverie that suggests ABBA gone horribly, intriguingly wrong." - SPIN
"(Dust Lane) teases both meditative sentiment and rousing emotion from an ambitious sonic palette - it's as compelling as it is mellifluous and in unequivocally titled closer "fuck me" - boasts the most life affirming song this reviewer has heard all year." - Mojo
The result of Tierson's island recordings vary from slow burn, macabre psychedelic rock explosions like "Dark Stuff" and "Till the End" to the hazy pop of "Amy," or the driving battle hymn, "Palestine." Then there's the delightful, little earthquake, album closer, "Fuck Me," pop gold. - IFC.com
