Wilco's 'The Whole Love' Earns Best Rock Album Grammy Nomination
The Chicago band Wilcoʼs latest album, The Whole Love, has earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album in the 54th annual Grammy Awards, to be awarded on February 12. Among the rave reviews the record has received worldwide, The Whole Love was named American Songwriter Magazineʼs 2011 Album of the Year and called "an eclectic masterpiece" by the St. Louis Post Dispatch. It is their first album released on their newly formed dBpm Records and their eighth overall.
Wilco previously won Grammy Awards for their 2004 release A Ghost is Born in the best alternative album and best recording package categories. Wilcoʼs Jeff Tweedy won a Grammy award as producer for Mavis Staples 2010 album You Are Not Alone.
Wilcoʼs latest North American tour is underway with upcoming performances in Kansas City, Des Moines, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Detroit and five sold-out shows in the bandʼs hometown Chicago. West Coast dates follow in early 2012. (A complete list of tour dates follows.)
