TWEEDY Premieres "Wait For Love" With Live Video Clip
“Wait For Love,” a new song by Tweedy from the forthcoming album Sukierae, premiered today at Consequence of Sound. The song features Jeff Tweedy on guitars and vocals, Spencer Tweedy on drums, Scott McCaughey (The Minus Five, The Baseball Project) on piano and Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig (Lucius) on backing vocals. CoS unveiled the song alongside a recently shot video of Jeff Tweedy performing a solo acoustic rendition of the new tune.
Tweedy is the name given to the new duo featuring the Wilco founder and his 18-year-old son Spencer. Sukierae presents 20 new Jeff Tweedy-penned tunes and sees release through dBpm Records on Sept. 23. As revealed earlier this week, dBpm will release eight new tracks prior to the album’s official release. On Monday the label debuted “Summer Noon,” a song also featured on the just-released soundtrack to the new Richard Linklater film Boyhood.
Each new track will be available free to anyone who pre-orders Sukierae before its official Sept. 23 release date. Songs are also available for individual purchase for $1.29. Pre-sale purchasers automatically receive each track as it becomes available and will receive all of the tracks released prior to their purchase date.
Jeff Tweedy is a Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and producer. He was a founding member of the pioneering alt-country band Uncle Tupelo and has been the leader of Wilco since its beginning in 1994. Spencer Tweedy, despite his young age, is a longtime member of the Chicago band The Blisters and handled drum duties on the latest album by soul and gospel legend Mavis Staples.
