Tinariwen Perform NPR Tiny Desk Concert
The celebrated North African "Touareg" band TINARIWEN recently stopped by the NPR offices of All Songs Considered to perform a Tiny Desk Concert. The acclaimed band played a four song set featuring a track from their Grammy Nominated Anti-Records release Tassili, which Q Magazine called "Tinariwen's most rewarding, mesmerizing effort to date." The group also performed two songs which have never been released on an album. Tassili was recently nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best World Music Category.
TINARIWEN "Tiny Desk Concert" Set List:
1- Adounia
2- Takkest Tamidaret (from the album Tassili)
3- Tenhert (from the album Imidiwan)
4- Tahlamoyt
On Tassili the renowned band refine their unique hypnotic sound, recording in the Algerian desert with contributions by Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone of TV On The Radio and later from guitar virtuoso Nels Cline of Wilco and the horns of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.
"Their sound is dustier, more evocative of the landscape they wander; Tassili is as desolate -- and as timeless -- as the desert itself." - All Music Guide
