SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO ANNOUNCE 'WHORL' NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

WATCH VANS MINI-DOCUMENTARY OF THEM PERFORMING ‘WHORL’ IN CALIFORNIA DESERT

After confirming the 9th September release date of their new LP ‘Whorl’ last week and wowing Barcelona’s Sonar Festival with the ‘Whorl’ live show, Simian Mobile Disco have announced a string of North American performances around Decibel Festival in Seattle and a special intimate London gig at Union Chapel at which they will perform ‘Whorl’ in its entirety.

In the words of Jas and James:

“We are pleased to announce we'll be performing Whorl live on tour for a string of US dates in September, taking in East and West Coast venues. We’ll be playing ‘Whorl’ in its entirety.

“For UK and European fans - full European tour dates are on the way - in the meantime though we have a special one off live show at London's Union Chapel on the 9th of September. If you know the venue, you will know that this is a really intimate setting which provides us the chance to perform a slightly different ‘Whorl’ live set.”

‘Whorl’ is the latest album from pioneering electronic duo, Simian Mobile Disco. In April, Jas and James trekked out to the Southern California desert, taking with them their new live set up – two modular synths, two sequencers, and a mixer. Over a period of three days, they jammed and rehearsed in the desert, culminating in a one off sold out live show at Pappy & Harriet’s, Pioneertown, allowing 900 fans to witness part of the recording process. Those sessions, taped under the desert sky, became the basis for their brand new album / live project ‘Whorl’, which will be released through Anti Records (Tom Waits, Kate Bush) on September the 9th.

Simian Mobile Disco has also partnered with Vans who came out to the desert for the recording, to shoot a short documentary piece, in which Jas and James explain the background and motivation to the desert recording session.
