Marketa Irglova Kicks Off US Tour
Marketa Irglova begins her first full U.S. tour this month in support of her solo album debut, Anar, released October 11th through Anti Records. To give fans a taste of what to expect, the 23-year old Academy Award winner and one half of The Swell Season recently visited AOL for a special "Interface" performance. Irglova will also be featured on NPR for a "Tiny Desk" concert November 10th, just before kicking off her tour the following night at Atlanta's Buckhead Theatre. The tour will include stops at Los Angeles' Troubadour November 17th, Chicago's Lincoln Hall November 26th and New York City's Bowery Ballroom November 30th.
Anar, inspired by and written in New York City, contains 10 tracks with ethereal vocals and expanding instrumentals including the R&B influenced "Go Back" and heart felt song "Crossroads." The video for "Crossroads" was shot in Irglova's hometown in Czech Republic and can be seen on RollingStone.com.

It was just over three years ago the song "Falling Slowly" from the film Once shocked the world by winning the Oscar. In the days following, a global spotlight was placed on Irglova after she was the first winner in the Academy's history brought back by the shows host (Jon Stewart) to finish her acceptance speech. In the ensuing years she has continued to share in a series of high points including releasing another record as The Swell Season, touring as a vocalist in Iron and Wine, helping prepare the stage version of Once and even appearing on The Simpsons.
The album was recorded in Chicago at Soma Studios with producer and engineer Tim Iseler, as well as fellow New Yorker, daf player and vocalist, Aida Shahghasemi.
