PRAISE FOR WHAT CHAOS IS IMAGINARY:
"Girlpool's full-band transformation has illuminated its raw sound in deep and unexpected ways." -
NPR
"The gravitas in their voice accompanies a newly embodied confidence; where Tucker once sang tentatively, now they sound rooted and sure. Their lyrics remain in the present tense, but their delivery
suggests a retrospective candor, an indexing of past selves in order to make room for the self that's still becoming." -Pitchfork
"One of the greatest modern day indie rock bands." -
Jezebel
"Extremely promising... shows the band continuing to evolve into a richly layered indie rock project." -
Stereogum
"'Lucy's' and 'Where You Sink,'; the two singles that Harmony Tividad and Cleo Tucker released last month, both hinted at the fact that Girlpool were growing into their status as a vivid, incisive rock band, but 'Hire' is the best of the lot. Cleo's voice is rich and raspy, particularly in its upper reaches, and there's even a serpentine guitar solo at the end. It's really good, and you should listen to it" -
Noisey
"Ever-evolving as songwriters has led to each album being a snapshot of a band in the midst of evolution, and What Chaos Is Imaginary is Girlpool's biggest leap yet." -Consequence of Sound
