DeVotchKa Recording Brand New Album
These are exciting times for exotic Denver based rock outfit DeVotchKa. The unique and original band, which got it 's start backing burlesque shows, has evolved into one of the most electrifying and original rock acts in action today. The group recently headed into Wavelab Studio in Tucson to record a follow up to their critically heralded Anti-Records debut A Mad and Faithful Telling which Spin described as "a sultry brew of Gypsy, Mexican, and pop ingredients... unexpectedly moving, 4 Stars!."
The band also provided a Grammy nominated soundtrack to the academy award winning film Little Miss Sunshine. Since then DeVotchKa frontman Nick Urata has composed soundtracks for several other high profile films including the upcoming prison romance I Love You Phillip Morris starring Ewan McGregor and Jim Carrey.
The band just wrapped a nationwide tour with gypsy rockers, Gogol Bordello. A live performance from the tour as well an insightful interview with the band appeared this week on Philadelphia's WHYY's Arts and Culture program On Canvas .The segment is available for viewing at the On Canvas site at http://www.whyy.org/artsandculture/oncanvas.html
And if all that wasn't enough, this last week found DeVotchKa performing to a crowd of over ninety thousand at a sold out show in the Stade de France soccer arena in Paris with Muse. Devotchka will appear at Mishawaka Amphitheater in Ft. Collins Colorado August 28th.
