zZz release Running With The Beast on January 19th 2009
Dutch psychedelic-electro, garage soul and rock & roll duo Björn Ottenheim and Daan Schinkel, otherwise known as zZz release their new album, Running With The Beast, through Anti on Monday 19th January.
Running With The Beast features the single Grip, the video for which, directed by Roel Wouters, received the Award for "Best International Music Video" at the Music Video Festival in France and the song and remake of the video is currently being used in the Fiat TV advert, you know the one with the trampoline: href="http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=_WqjJQ6KY28&" target="_blank">click here.
zZz were formed in Amsterdam in 2001 when Björn (vocals/drums) and Daan (organ) decided to make music with a simple drum kit and an old $50 church organ and some electronic gadgets in their basement.
zZz released their first demo Bikini Inferno in 2002 followed by debut The Sound Of zZz in 2005, which had Spin Magazine enthusing their music is "both innovating and captivating" whilst the NME professed zZz are "the dark oily afterbirth of organ-punk... electro-krautrock loons."
The band have already built up a notorious live reputation having toured worldwide with the likes of - Fatboy Slim, Juliette & The Licks, Gossip, Franz Ferdinand and The Happy Mondays.
