Tinariwen To Appear On The Colbert Report November 29
The world renowned North African group TINARIWEN will bring their unique and hypnotic sound to the North American airwaves this November 29th when the band are featured guest on The Colbert Report. The group will perform their moving and evocative song "Tenere Taqqim Tossam" joined by musicians Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone of the band TV On The Radio. They will also be interviewed by the show's inimitable host.
Hailing from the war torn deserts of Saharan North Africa, TINARIWEN employ electric guitars and plaintive seductive rhythms to create a desert blues unlike anything else. On their groundbreaking new album Tassili, the band recorded in a protected region of the Algerian desert joined by Adebimpe and Malone of the TV On The Radio and later by guitarist Nels Cline of Wilco and the horns of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.
"Let's get one thing straight: TINARIWEN is just about the best guitar-based rock band of the 21st century." - NPR
