THE MILK CARTON KIDS Revue
Acclaimed duo The Milk Carton Kids will celebrate the March 26th release of their Anti- debut album The Ash & Clay with a series of very special live performances in and around their hometown of Los Angeles.
The festivities commence with two shows on March 23rd and 24th in Ventura at the much beloved intimate venue Zoey’s (the site where the band recorded their first album Retrospect)
The events continue on the March 26th release date of the new record with an in-store performance at renowned Amoeba Records in Hollywood.
And finally, the band will host a very special event entitled The Milk Carton Kids Revue, an evening of collaboration-in-song on March 27th at Largo in Los Angeles. The night will offer musical and vocal accompaniment to performances from Ed Helms, Tom Brosseau, Joe Henry, Over The Rhine, Joe Purdy and Jill Sobule and additional guests yet to be announced.
The Milk Carton Kids consists of Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan. While the most obvious musical reference is the classic folk revival sound of twin acoustic guitars and matching harmonies, the band both expands and contradicts that rich legacy with highly inventive guitar lines and their intricately interwoven vocals. After forming in 2011, the duo quickly built a devoted following with the simple purity of their music and their celebrated deadpan stage humor.
Three songs from The Ash & Clay were recently featured in the acclaimed new Gus Van Sant/Matt Damon film Promised Land, meanwhile, the album is currently the number one most added record on the AMA radio chart (Americana Music Association) this week.
