The Milk Carton Kids Announce 2019 Tour Dates
Two-time GRAMMY®-nominated duo The Milk Carton Kids (Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan) have announced new East Coast and Midwest dates early next year, with more dates to be announced in the coming weeks.

The Milk Carton Kids are set to close the 18th Annual San Francisco Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest, with a brand new variety show, “The Milk Carton Kids Sad Songs Comedy Hour”. The band will perform and host an evening of music and comedy with guests including Andy Kindler, Aparna Nancherla, and more. The show will take place Sunday, January 27 at the Marines’ Memorial Theatre. Tickets and additional information can be found here.
The Milk Carton Kids will host a second installment of their “Sad Songs Comedy Hour” in Los Angeles at the Largo on Tuesday, January 29. Special guests to be announced soon.
Kenneth Pattengale has designed and released his own signature Martin guitar, The Pattengale Special. “Four years ago I set out to design a guitar akin to the 1955 Martin 0-15 (Serial #144667) that I play with The Milk Carton Kids. Affordable, but built with superior craftsmanship, it served as my guiding light for 'The Pattengale Special.' After two years of close collaboration between myself, George Gruhn (of Gruhn Guitars) and Fred Greene (of C.F. Martin & Co.), we’ve achieved a design that pays homage to the workingman’s 0-15 that I hold so dear,” Pattengale says proudly of his new guitar. The guitar is available only at Gruhn Guitars in Nashville, TN. Orders can be secured by calling (615) 256-2033 or sending an email to rob@guitars.com. Check out ‘The Pattengale Special’ here.
Joey Ryan will appear in two episodes of the new season of HBO’s comedy series ‘Crashing’. The show, from creator/star Pete Holmes and Executive Producer Judd Apatow, follows the career of a young comedian who persues a career in stand-up (Holmes) and features appearances from many of the biggest names in comedy including John Mulaney, Amy Schumer, and Ray Romano. Ryan says of his first non-musical acting role: “Pete asked me to come read for this new character on his show who is not a musician, so at first I thought there must have been some mistake. But he gave me the confidence I needed, and I got to spend a week in New York with Pete and Judd and a room full of the funniest people in the world, just watching them do their thing, and trying to keep up. It was totally inspiring and intimidating and improvisational. I guess they left some of my lines in.” The eight-episode third season airs January 20 at 10pm.

Founded in 2011, The Milk Carton Kids swiftly emerged as a major force in the continuing American folk tradition, blending ethereal, oscillating harmonies and intricate, inventive musicianship with a uniquely powerful brand of contemporary songcraft. 2013's ANTI- debut, The Ash & Clay, proved their national breakthrough, earning The Milk Carton Kids their first GRAMMY® Award nomination, for "Best Folk Album." A second GRAMMY® nomination for "Best American Roots Performance" followed in 2015, honoring "The City of Our Lady," from The Milk Carton Kids' acclaimed third studio album, Monterey.
The duo’s fourth studio album, All The Things That I Did and All The Things That I Didn't Do, was recorded last October in the Sun Room at House of Blues Studio in Nashville, TN with GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Joe Henry (Solomon Burke, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Carolina Chocolate Drops) and GRAMMY® Award-winning engineer Ryan Freeland (Ray Lamontagne, Bonnie Raitt). The Milk Carton Kids once again opted to push the envelope of their distinctive sound, this time crafting their first-ever LP to feature backing by other musicians. All The Things That I Did and All The Things That I Didn't Do sees Pattengale and Ryan joined in the studio by a truly stellar lineup of top session players - including Russ Pahl (Kacey Musgraves, Blake Shelton) on pedal steel and other guitars, bassists Paul Kowert (Punch Brothers) and Dennis Crouch (Gregg Allman, Johnny Cash), Wilco's Pat Sansone on piano, mellotron, and Hammond organ, drummer Jay Bellerose (Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Elton John, Willie Nelson), cellist Nathaniel Smith (Sarah Jarosz, Abigail Washburn), Levon Henry (Blake Mills, Nico Muhly) on clarinet and saxophone, Brittany Haas (Crooked Still, Dave Rawlings Machine) on fiddle and mandolin as well as Lindsay Lou and Logan Ledger lending additional vocals.
