Stereogum Premieres Daniel Lanois Remix Of The Antlers
Stereogum is premiering a captivating new remix of The Antlers’ song “Doppelgänger” as reimagined by renowned musician-producer-sonic explorer Daniel Lanois.
The new interpretation of the track takes The Antlers’ evocative ambitious sound and imbues it with a distinctly ambient feel recalling Lanois' groundbreaking collaborations with Brian Eno.

The “Doppelgänger” remix was inspired by the forthcoming "Anti-Thesis" performance in Brooklyn this November 10th which features The Antlers, Daniel Lanois as well as The North African ensemble Tinariwen.
The evening, which is curated by Daniel Lanois, is a celebration of music which exists outside of traditional genres, structures and rules. The artists included are sonically unified by their use of expansive arrangements, hypnotic rhythms and transcendent sense of building. It’s not a hook or a formula, it’s a cathartic and celebratory journey.
The Onion’s A.V. Club described The Antlers’ new album Familiars as “wonderfully expansive songwriting” while pitchfork.com proclaimed “against all odds, they’ve become one of the most interesting indie rock bands working.”
Meanwhile, NPR Music called Lanois' new album Flesh And Machine, a “deeply otherworldly adventure” and added “with four decades of groundbreaking albums behind him, he remains such a badass in the studio, always restless and reaching for new sounds and ideas.”
