SPOON releases new album 'Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga' in Europe on Anti in July
Spoon has signed an exclusive deal with ANTI Records for the European release of their eagerly anticipated new album "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga". The album will be released on July 9th 2007.
With a history of stellar records, Spoon has topped themselves with Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, a thrilling album recorded throughout 2006 in Austin by the band and Mike McCarthy (And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead) and Jon Brion (Kanye West, Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann). The Britt Daniel originals on Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga comprise possibly his most heartfelt batch of songs since 2001's Girls Can Tell.
Spoon's last album, Gimme Fiction (released on Matador / Beggars), laid a strong critical and commercial foundation for the band in Europe, and was a hit in the United States, where it has sold over 170,000 copies to date.
After touring extensively (both headlining, and supporting the likes of Interpol on a month long European tour) in 2005 and 2006, the band will return to Europe in August 2007 making their festival debuts at Pukkelpop, Summer Sundae, and Oya Festival, among others.
It's worth pointing out that Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga is comprised of ten songs, the perfect number of songs for an album (see Fulfillingness' First Finale, Seventeen Seconds, Back In Black, The Queen Is Dead, The Charm of the Highway Strip, Nebraska, Nashville Skyline, Heroes, Unknown Pleasures, The Violent Femmes, The Woods, Sticky Fingers, etc.). We've also got it on good authority that 36 minutes is the ideal album length.
