Son Little commented, "I'm really excited about "All Wet" because people who have seen me live have heard me play it a bunch, now I get to finally share the recording which is quite different than the live show; makes it fun."
Son Little won a Grammy for producing Mavis Staples’ Best American Roots Performance of the song "See That My Grave is Kept Clean.’ His self-titled debut album was heralded as “a potent collection of soulful new Americana” by NOISEY and “one of the most interesting and rewarding debuts of 2015” by AllMusicGuide.
Born to a preacher and a teacher in Los Angeles, Son Little learned how to listen and perform on the West Coast before moving east to New York and New Jersey. He dropped in and out of schools and scenes in Manhattan and then Philadelphia, where he collaborated with both The Roots and RJD2. His sound draws inspiration from the diaspora of American music, creating something that recalls the warm vinyl of a beloved classic, but is sonically rooted in the present and future with staccato beats, echoing guitars, and rumbling bass.
Son Little recently performed on Later With Jools Holland and has been on the Festival circuit performing at the Bottle Rock, Sasquatch, Nelsonville, and Mountain Jam. He will also be appearing at Firefly, Ann Arbor Summer Fest, Electric Forest, Ottawa Bluesfest, Summerfest, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Wanderlust and The Newport Folk Festival.
