Son Little Featured At Complex
The art and culture site Complex.com has just posted a profile of acclaimed new artist Son Little, who Okayplayer described as “neo-blues meets the ghost of Bob Marley trapped inside a tabla machine–but with a newfound grown man wisdom.” The piece features an interview by senior editor Damien Scott with the former Roots and RJD2 collaborator previously known as Aaron Livingston, as well as videos for Son Little’s recent singles “Cross My Heart” and “Your Love Will Blow Me Away When My Heart Aches.” Check out the profile here: href="http://www.complex.com/music/2014/07/son-little-interview">Complex.com>
Lyrical cut-ups a la Burroughs and Bowie, musical cutups deeply ingrained in his hip-hop schooling, all emerge as a deep soul ache in Little’s music. In their review of “Your Love Will Blow Me Away When My Heart Aches” Vibe Magazine proclaimed “Heartache never sounded this good. Meet Son Little, the artist formerly known as Aaron Livingston, whose soulful vocals circle the drains of despair but offer the perfect self-medication for today's sorrows."
Little has just completed a series of live dates opening for maverick R&B singer Kelis. A live review in Grimy Goods offered, “Effortlessly, Son Little happily dazed the audience with his neo soul and blues one-man-show. He skillfully blended electronic beats with blues guitar and vocals sharing nostalgic and soulful material, including his most recent track ‘Cross My Heart.’ The L.A. crowd seemed to have welcomed Son Little with open arms judging by the enjoyment on their faces.” Little has just announced a series of new dates, including a run at the prestigious Pickathon festival in Oregon.
