So Much Light Premieres "Simple How I Feel"
Northern California based singer-songwriter and musical virtuoso, So Much Light (aka Damien Verrett), has released a brand new track titled “Simple How I Feel”.
The video, directed by Jane Qian, takes place in a bomb shelter where Damien and his once love are trapped in an underground hideout, unknowing of the dangerous world outside. The two are trapped for months in a tiny space with only each other, eventually becoming annoyed of the company. The video depicts the deterioration of their relationship as food & supplies run out. Damien is doing his best to make the most of the situation but it seems his lover has already given up.

As Verrett explains, “I sometimes fall into a trap of obstructing my true feelings with metaphor while songwriting. As a lyrical exercise, I thought it would be fun to write an expressly literal song about being distant from a loved one.
While writing the chorus I got stuck. I started searching for the perfect lyric to crystalize my frustrations, but nothing felt profound enough. Finally, I tapped into the least articulate part of myself and arrived at, ‘Why’s it gotta be so fucking complicated?’ In the face of big feelings and complex situations, acting a little petulant can be liberating.
In the song I’m despairing over a relationship like it’s the end of the world. In the video it’s literally the end of the world, yet I’m still despairing over a relationship.”
By seamlessly combining soul with exceedingly intelligent and thoughtfully-arranged production, So Much Light has expanded the boundaries of conventional genres Late 2015, So Much Light released his powerful five-song digital EP entitled Idiot Soul via Anti- Records. Since then, So Much Light has released two singles “Justin Bieber at the Gates of Hell” and “Nothing but Your Love (ft. Natalie Evans)”.
