New Album By Tinariwen Premieres On NPR
The captivating new album Tassili by the band TINARIWEN arrives in stores on August 30th. This Monday the 22nd, NPR.org will be streaming the latest work by the acclaimed "Touareg" group in its entirety as part of the station's "First Listen" series.
For their latest record, the renowned band has refined their hypnotic sound, recording in the Algerian desert with contributions by Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone of celebrated rockers TV On The Radio. Later on, guitar virtuoso Nels Cline (Wilco) and the soulful horns of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band joined in the process. The end result, called "Tinariwen's most rewarding, mesmerizing effort to date" by Q Magazine, proves a unique a simultaneously exotic and sonically expansive work.
