Neko Case has Fox Confessor Brings The Flood named "#1 Album of the Year" by CMJ!
In the most recent issue of the College Music Journal, ANTI- artist Neko Case has been named the "Top Charting" artist of the year with her latest album, Fox Confessor Brings The Flood.
Neko topped out on both the "Top 200" & "AAA" charts in 2006 and you can read their review of her album below:
After the New Porn moonlighting and a fine live album, Neko Case is back to starry skystaring strumming about small towns and sad gals that still have no idea how alluring they are. Case is pretty sure by now—her croon is as commanding as ever. Everything’s a bit calmer, darker. The murder ballad “Dirty Knife” cuts especially more noir than usual. The music is fairly unchanged from her classic Blacklisted: rural mood/urban cool swirl with surreal lyrical touches that all melt into modern torch songs. “That Teenage Feeling” and “Lion’s Jaw” swoon with ’60s girl-group affinities, “John Saw That Number” has some rockabilly bop, and “The Needle Has Landed” is a seamless canoodle of Morricone expanse, beehive heave, French girl suave and Southern charm. If not as melodically ingratiating (read: catchy) as Blacklisted, it finds Case with increasingly subtle vocal control and a heavier heart.
