JASON LYTLE Tours With Band Of Horses
Jason Lytle, known for his work as singer/songwriter for influential indie cult favorites Grandaddy is set to begin a tour supporting the band Band Of Horses. Lytle will be performing in support of his phenomenal new solo album Dept. of Disappearance which BBC recently heralded as “an album of depth and scale” and the New York Times described by saying, “Lytle, bends the lush, harmony-loving, studio-proud California pop of bands like Fleetwood Mac and Buffalo Springfield toward his own obsessions - particularly mortality and solitude.” Following the dates with Band of Horses, Lytle will be heading to Europe in February for a headlining tour.
Lytle also recently collaborated with Band Of Horses lead singer Ben Bridwell on a cover of the Towns Van Zandt song “Don’t You Take It Too Bad.” As Bridwell explains, “the “Townes Van Zandt cover was started by me in a Italian hotel room and finished in the wilds of Montana by Mr. Lytle.” You can listen to and download the track for free by going to: http://jasonlytle.com/2012/11/18/dont-you-take-it-too-bad
While Lytle initially made an impact with his influential band Granddaddy, he has subsequently built a catalog of highly inventive and emotionally resonant solo works. His latest Dept. of Disappearance plays like an emotionally resonant soundtrack for some non-existent cinematic masterpiece. On it the sometimes reclusive but always intriguing musician infuses the toil of ordinary existence with a sweeping sonic beauty.
You can watch a new video of Lytle performing his song "Somewhere There's A Someone" from Dept. of Disappearance at home on a piano intercut with images of the surrounding Montana landscape.
