Galactic to Release Visionary New Album 'YA-KA-MAY' February 9, 2010, Tour Dates Announced
It's shaping up to be a stellar year for celebrated New Orleans outfit GALACTIC. On February 9th the band will release their groundbreaking new album YA-KA-MAY, a visionary mix of intertwining New Orleans sounds from jazz to brass band to funk and the distinctive gender bending regional hip hop known as "bounce." Vocals are provided by an eclectic roster of area legends including Allen Toussaint and Irma Thomas as well as emerging underground bounce artists like Cheeky Blakk, Big Freedia and Sissy Nobby.
You can preview the first song off the record, a wicked reinvention of soulful blues called "Dark Water" featuring vocals by award wining New Orleans native John Boutte, currently available for download at http://www.anti.com/galactic/
And beginning in the New Year, GALACTIC will embark on an ambitious tour, taking their one of a kind energetic live show to venues across North America.
