Doe Paoro Premieres "Voice" Video Via Nylon
Nylon is premiering a new video fr the acclaimed singer and musician Doe Paoro for her track “Voice.”
The song originally premiered care of Fader, who described it as “a cool pop track built on loops and layers of lush sound and lessons” and said Paoro “has learned throughout a decade of meditative practice. In fact, the track is her attempt at rendering a sort of universal voice that can only be heard in utter silence.”
The new video was directed by Mitch Dequilettes and is beautifully surreal affair culminating in a hypnotic and eerie dance sequence. Paoro says of the video, ““I see the last dance sequence as inspired by "The Craft" and the whole video is a commentary on seeking an exorcism from this apocalyptic world where we have become addicted to looking for light outside of ourselves.”

On her Anti- debut album After, Paoro worked with producers Sean Carey (drummer / supporting vocalist for Bon Iver) and BJ Burton (The Tallest Man on Earth, Sylvan Esso, and others) to even further deepen her musical repertoire, creating a mesmerizing hybrid of R&B, synthpop, and indie-leaning electro rooted in an earthy minimalism, drawing from influences ranging from Carole King to Portishead, Aretha Franklin and beyond. The album was recorded at April Base, a Wisconsin ranch house that Vernon had converted into a studio with songs co written with number of songwriters including Sterling Fox, Peter Morén (Peter Bjorn and John), Max Hershenow (MS MR), and Adam Rhodes.
