Deafheaven Announce 2017 Headline Tour + Festival Dates
Deafheaven have announced an early-2017 headline tour of the U.S. The tour kicks off in San Francisco on February 23 at Noise Pop at The Independent and continues through March 27 in Eugene, OR at Wow Hall. This Will Destroy You and Emma Ruth Rundle join as support. Additionally, Deafheaven is also making a two-night appearance at the Echoplex in Los Angeles in January. See tour dates below.
Fresh off a fall co-headline tour with Carcass, Deafheaven have toured relentlessly in support of New Bermuda. Their schedule has included a recent stint with Slipknot, as well as an early-2016 run supporting Lamb of God. In the past year, the band has also toured internationally in Australia, South America, Japan, and Europe, in addition to appearing at festivals like Coachella, Chicago Open Air, Eaux Claires, Wrecking Ball, Desert Daze, and Aftershock.
Formed in San Francisco in 2010, Deafheaven (vocalist George Clarke, guitarists Kerry McCoy and Shiv Mehra, drummer Dan Tracy, and bassist Stephen Lee) released their latest album New Bermuda on Anti- in October 2015. The follow-up to their 2013 sophomore effort Sunbather (an unexpected crossover hit), New Bermuda finds the band making the most punishing music of their career in the wake of their greatest success.
Named “one of the best albums of the year, period,” by Stereogum, New Bermuda was praised by NPR as “Deafheaven at its most electric and exploratory.” Meanwhile, Pitchfork’s Best New Music review stated that New Bermuda “represents a brilliant collision of beauty and despair.”
